Purpose: Adding shifts to templates allows you to include positions in the template that will later be used for scheduling.

Scenario: For an employee to begin a working shift, they must clock in to a shift they have been assigned. These assigned shifts are also used to create templates, which are reused on a weekly basis to make shift creation easier and faster.

Key words:

Shifts – Different positions assigned specific time allocations, which define the start and end times of an employee’s work schedule.

Day Shift – Starts and ends on the same calendar day.

Night Shift – Starts in the evening and ends the following morning.

On-Call Shift – Times are determined by when the employee is needed to cover a position. The employee is on standby and does not need to clock in.

Primary Shift – Determines the official clock-in and clock-out times.

Secondary Shift – Additional assignments an employee can perform while already clocked in.
