What is an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system?
An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is an electronic version of a patient's medical history, kept by the provider over time, and may include all important administrative clinical data related to the patient's medical history, provider-specific care, including demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, vital signs, medical history, immunizations, lab data, and scan reports. The EHR is also capable of directly or indirectly supporting other care-related activities through various interfaces, including evidence-based decision support, quality management, and outcome reporting.
