Pill Count

Purpose: To ultimately track if patient is adhering to the consumption of prescribed medication.

Scenario: If a patient who was prescribed for ART comes for refill you have to check if the he/she is really taking the medication. This helps to improve patient health and also take corrective measures if defaulting to that particular medication.

Follow the steps on how to do a Pill Count:

1. Open a patient file in Outpatient application.

2. Click 'Prescription' tab.

3. Click 'Pill Counts' tab to see all pill counts that were done.

4. Click '+ Pill Count' button to start the count.

5. Select the medication you want to be counted. Once you have selected the Medication you want to count, Previous Date, Previous Quantity and Current Date will be auto-populated. (Please note that only medication that has been dispensed will show on the Medication to count. Only base items for which adherence is tracked and that have a minimal package size of 1 are shown. this is configured in Medical Settings).

Enter the current quantity of pills the patient has and also quantity that has been lost.

6. Save the Pill Count.

7. After you have saved you will be able to see the Adherence Level.
