How to Review Lab Results

Steps on how to review lab results in Luvelo Outpatient

Purpose: To provide clear, actionable guidance on how to effectively review and communicate lab results to patients, addressing the critical challenge of ensuring timely follow-up and proper understanding.

Accessing the App

Required Role: OutpatientGeneral

  1. Log in to Luvelo Outpatient using the tablet app or by visiting app.luvelo.org/outpatient in your web browser.

Provider Lab Results Review

  1. From the home screen, click Lab Result Review.

  2. Find the patient you need. You can either scroll through the patient list or use the search bar to find a patient by name or healthcare ID.

    You can also use the filter to refine your search by status:

    • Pending Full Results: At least one result has been completed.

    • Pending Provider Review: Results are pending a review from the provider.

    • Pending Communication to Patient: Results have been reviewed but are yet to be communicated to the patient.

    • Communicated: The callers have communicated the full results to the patient.

  3. Click on the patient's name to review their results. If you are a provider, ensure you are on the Provider tab.

  4. Fill in the review details:

    • Notes: Click the person and pencil icon to add general notes.

    • Notes to Communicate to Patient: Type in the information you need to share with the patient.

    • Notes from Patient Conversation: Add notes from your conversation with the patient.

    • Has Patient Acknowledged: Check this box once the patient has acknowledged their results.

  5. Click Save to save the information or click Review to save and update the status to "Reviewed."

Communicating Results (Caller)

  1. To update the system after communicating results via the phone, switch to the Caller tab.

  2. Once the conversation is complete:

    • Update the Notes from Patient Conversation field.

    • Check the Has Patient Acknowledged box.

    • Click Communicate to update the status to "Communicated."

Admission Acknowledgement

  • Any time a lab order is resulted for an admitted patient, an alert will be shown (blue beaker) so that the doctor can acknowledge those labs.
